Hi,
I am not a baby sitter nor own a daycare. I do not agree that you have to be licensed to be a baby sitter. Even school kids baby sit. Please do not spread incorrect message.

I think it is illegal to work on H4 visa I can agree if that was your advice but not on the licensing.

I am a working parent and I believe these ladies are trying to help the parents who are working as well earn some money. As a parent I need to make correct decision where my kids go to and take necessary precaution in finding the right nanny/baby sitter.
I have to say my baby sitter was excellent its unfortunate about the new haven parents but they didn't take necessary action to find the right one.

Please do not discourage!

The recent episode of the Indian babysitter who killed a toddler should be an eye opener to Indian parents. There are many others ways a child can be abused and you may never know
- Do not leave your child in someone else's home - get the Nanny/babysitter to your place. You have no idea what happens in other homes and your child may not be able to tell you
- Have a Nanny cam in your house and monitor what happens
- Cheap is expensive - go for qualified, experienced and recommended people and not for the cheapest person who will neglect or abuse your baby
- Licensed daycare is better - atleast the child is not dependent on one adult and their moods
- Get family or relative support and if not possible take some time off work to be with child. It is better than this risk
Please do not ignore this as this episode is a warning to all of us. Please reconsider out of home childcare if it is not licensed
